Ohio State Posts First Win of the 2000-01 Season Over Ohio University

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State men's team posted its first win of the 2000-01 season today over Ohio University, 144-92, at Ohio University's Aquatic Center in Athens, Ohio.

The Buckeyes were led by Brian Malich (Sr., Mason, Ohio/El Dorado (Calif.)), Travis Carver (Jr., Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley) and Heath Knowling (So., Alexandria, Ind./Anderson Highland), who each posted two individual wins. Malich won the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle events with times of 46.20 and 1:42.44. Carver took two wins, one in the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.55) and the other in the 500-yard freestyle (4:39.22). Knowling's wins came on the one-meter and three-meter boards with scores of 301.05 and 319.35.

Other top performers for Ohio State included Nick Cheney (Jr., Lima, Ohio/UT-Austin), Jeff Stacy (Jr., Gates Mills, Ohio/Hawken), Nick Rees (So., Nassau, Bahamas/St. Augustin) and Ivan Petrovic (Jr., Zagreb, Croatia/Zabreg) who each posted an individual win. Cheney, Petrovic and Rees also helped the 400-yard medley relay team to a win.

The Buckeyes next meet will be a dual meet between West Virginia and Rutgers in Morgantown, W. Va., Friday, Nov. 3 at 3 p.m.
