Oct 25, 2000

PULLMAN, Wash.-- The Washington State University women's swim team delighted a Cougar Dads Day crowd by defeating the University of South Carolina at Gibb Pool Saturday by a score of 119 to 86.

"This win did a lot to boost the team's confidence," head coach Rocco Aceto said.

Freshman Taryn Ternent (Edenvale, South Africa) won the 50 freestyle in 24.13 seconds, the 100 freestyle in 52.28 seconds and anchored the 400 medley relay team to victory. Those times moved Ternent into fifth on the Cougars' all-time list in the 50 free and third in the 100 free.
