Portugal has announced their team for the Olympic Games. Francisco Alves, National Co-ordinator for swimming, is very confident the Portuguese swimmers will perform well in Sydney. Portugal expects at least one finalist (Jose Couto) and one semi-finalist (Nuno Laurentino).

"We are counting on great performances, in terms of Portuguese reality, by Jose Couto and Nuno Laurentino, but also from other athlete's. We hope that all swimmers will be able to break their national records, and, if that happens, we will have more than one swimmer in the semi-finals, which will be very good."
