Canadian Coach Named to British Olympic Team

Canadian Coach Gary Vandermeulen, head coach of the Duncan Stingrays of Duncan, B.C., has been named as a coach on the British Olympic Team headed to Sydney.

Gary was named to the team on the strength of his swimmer and wife Alison Sheppard. Alison is a British citizen and competed during the past week at the British Olympic Trials being held in Sheffield. She qualified first in the 50 free with a winning time of 25.20. She also finished 5th in the 100 free, earning her a spot on the 4x100 freestyle relay team.
