German Trials Continue Today
May 5, 2000
The trials of Manfred Ewald the former East German Olympic Chief and Dr. Manfred Hoeppner the former medical director continue today. They face a total of 142 charges of being accessories to causing bodily harm.
Both men were in court on Wednesday for the first day of the trial. They are the highest ranking former East German officials to stand trial so far, for the systematic doping of athletes.
Our own Karin Helmstaedt has a court side seat at he trial and will have a report for us in the next issue of our magazine.
