Clemson Tigers Defeat Virginia Tech

CLEMSON, SC - The Clemson men's and women's swimming and diving team defeated Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon at the McHugh Natatorium on Clemson's campus. The Tiger men's team improves to 7-1 overall with the win, while the women's record stands at 7-3 overall following Saturday's victory. The Tiger seniors were honored at their final home meet of the season.

The men's team defeated the Hokies 170.5-72.5 Clemson won eight swimming events and both diving events for the victory. The Tigers' 400 medley relay team placed first in 3:25.64, and the 400 free relay team was victorious in 3:05.79.

Senior Mike Pridemore won the 50 free in 20.91, while junior Will Rogers won the 100 free in 45.67. Sophomore Kenny Roberts placed first in the 200 free with a time of 1:42.35. Junior Jano Dubreuil won the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.64, and senior Wes Morrow won the 200 fly in 1:53.86. Freshman Matt Norman was first in the 200 breast, finishing in 2:05.96. Freshman Craig Thomas won both diving events, scoring 275.85 on the one-meter board and 296.03 in the three-meter competition.

The Clemson women's team won nine swimming events and one diving for the 162-81 win. Freshman Jenna Burtch recorded a NCAA Provisional Qualifying time of 23.31 to win the 50 free and won the 100 free in 51.92. Clemson's 400 medley relay team was first in 3:53.14, and the 400 free relay team placed first with a time of 3:31.36.

Junior Charli Reasons won the 200 free with a time of 1:54.18, and freshman Catherine Blaney won the 500 free in 5:05.16. Sophomore Ginny Kirouac was first in the 200 IM at 2:07.00, while sophomore Emily Hustead was first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:05.60. Freshman Courtney Ellis placed first with a time of 2:22.19 in the 200 breast.

Senior Aly Susterka won the three-meter diving competition with a score of 267.67 and placed second in the one-meter competition with a score of 247.05.
