Fact Of The Day

Sep 23, 1998

HONOLULU BOYS ROMP HOME
At the 1920 Antwerp Olympics the 29th August was a great day for the USA, and particularly for three lads from Honolulu as Duke Kahanamoku romped home first in the 100 meter freestyle in 1 minute, 1 2-5 seconds with fellow townsmen ,Warren Kealoha and W. W. Harris, in second and third place respectively. The King of Belgium was to have presented the medals the next day but some of the Americans had left earlier in order to catch their boat. They received their medals later by proxy.
