Suspensions Upheld Against 3 Russian Swimmers

Three Russian swimmers Vladimir Pyshnenko, Natalia Mesheryakova and Olga Kochetkova who tested positive for metandienone last fall have lost their case to appeal their suspensions by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland.

The court has ordered that the 2 year suspensions will stand. The cake eating trio were caught and suspended by the Russian swimming federation in October of 1997. As such they will not be able to compete until late 1999.

You may remember this trio claimed at the time they were caught that they had eatin a cake laced with the steroid given to them by a disgruntled former teammate.
