Brazilian National Champs Day 3 Report

May 27, 2001  - Prelims for Day 4

Eduardo Fischer broke the south american record in the 100 breastroke with his time of 1:02.44 (28.78, another continental record). The old record was 1:03.30, from argentinian Sergio Ferreyra, from 1998. Eduardo's split for the race was 28.78. This time betters the South American record time of 28.82 that he set just the day before in the mens 50 breaststroke. This time was certainly good enough to make the standard for Fukuoka which is 1:02.85.

Gustavo Borges and Edvaldo Valerio made the standard for the men's 100 free with time of 49.31 and 49.91 respectively. These times also qualify them for the 4x100 free and the 4x100 medley relay.

Raphael Thuin managed to set a meet record with his time of 24.70 in the men's 50 fly.
