Marist Men, Rider Women Maintain Lead at 2001 MAAC Championships

BALTIMORE, MD - The Marist men's and Rider women's swimming and diving teams continue to lead the league after two days of competition in the 2001 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, held at the Fitness and Aquatic Center at Loyola College.

The Marist men maintain a strong lead with 680 points, while Rider has registered 374 points for second place. St. Peter's is in third with 349 points, followed by Loyola (287), Iona (270), Fairfield (218) and Niagara (197).

On the women's side, Rider now has captured 519 points, 19 points ahead of defending MAAC champion Marist, which now has 500 points. Loyola is in third with 369 points, followed by Siena (264.50), St. Peter's (245.50), Iona (202), Niagara (197), Fairfield (136), Canisius (112) and Manhattan (60).

Several more MAAC records were reset in the second day of competition. Marist's Erin McGrath beat her own record in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 57.55. Rider also reset both times in the men's and women's 200 yard medley relay, with the men finishing in 1:34.61 and the women coming in at 1:49.58.
