Austin, Tex. - Fourth-ranked Stanford (5-1) rallied for a pair of victories over #10 Texas and #11 SMU in a triangular meet in Austin on Saturday. The Cardinal won five of the final six events to finish in front of both Texas (190.50-181.50) and SMU (222-143). Texas defeated SMU in their competition (219-143). Freshman Tara Kirk broke Stanford's school record in the 100 breaststroke for the second time this season, winning the event in an NCAA "A" Qualifying Standard time of 1:00.45. Kirk's victory in the 100 breaststroke came in event #15 of 20 in the two-day meet and was the Cardinal's first individual win of the day.

Misty Hyman continued the comeback with a victory in the 200 butterfly (1:56.96, NCAA "A Qualifying Standard). After a victory by Texas' Colleen Lanne in the 50 freestyle (22.70, NCAA "A Qualifying Standard), the Cardinal won the final three events of the meet. Hyman captured the 200 individual medley with a season-best time of 2:01.02. The Cardinal 400 medley relay team of Shelly Ripple, Kirk, Hyman and Siobhan Cropper won the final swimming event of the day with a Cardinal season-best time of 3:40.61 before Stanford took the top three spots in the platform diving competition to secure a victory over Texas. McKenze Murphy won the platform event with a score of 404.00.

Other individual winners on the second day of the meet were Texas' Ally Hartzell (one-meter diving, 270.45), Rachel Harris (1650 freestyle, 16:25.43) and Colleen Lanne (200 freestyle, 1:47.73), as well as SMU's Anu Koivisto (100 backstroke, 55.56). Texas also won the first two relays of the day with victories in the 400 freestyle relay (3:24.81) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:33.70).

Stanford will next be in action February 10 when the Cardinal travels to Pac-10 foe California for its final regular-season dual meet of year. The meet is scheduled to begin at Noon.
