George Mason Falls To Villanova In Last Home Dual Meet

FAIRFAX, VA - Maddy Crippen won three events, while James Wolczynski, Kristen Olson, Duane Couture, Moira Durkin, Adam Walchak and Brian Mulligan each placed first in two events as Villanova handed the George Mason swimming and diving teams losses in their last home dual meet of the season Friday at the Mason Aquatic and Fitness Center.

The Patriot men lost 156-133, and the women suffered a 161-119 setback. Mason senior Tim Fisher (Kokomo, KS), diving in his last home meet, finished second on the one-meter board and third on the three meter.

Crippen took first in the 1650 freestyle, 200 butterfly and 200 breaststroke to lead the Villanova women. Olson won the 50 and 200 free, and Durkin finished first in the 100 and 200 backstroke. Katie Armitage added a win in the 100 free, and Michelle Diago took first in the 500 free.

Wolczynski won the 500 and 1650 free for the Wildcat men. Couture finished first in the 100 and 200 free, and Walchak won the 100 and 200 fly. Mulligan won both diving events, and Peter Klimas was first in the 50 free.

Cameron Charlton (Ontario, Canada) won the 100 and 200 breast and the 200 IM to lead the Mason men. Ben Danforth (Vienna, VA) and Chris Natoli (Alexandria, VA) finished first and second, respectively, in both the 100 and 200 back. Mike Sihler (Herndon, VA) placed second in the 100 breast, and Nathan Kellogg (Sandston, VA) was second in the 100 fly. Eric Stehle (Midlothian, VA) was second in the 500 free, and Kyle Troop (Poolesville, MD) finished second in the three-meter diving.

Christy Milstead (Burke, VA) won the 100 fly and 200 IM and finished second in the 200 fly. Jamie Downing (Midlothian, VA) won both diving events. Louise Middlemore (Nottingham, England) won the 100 breast and finished second in the 200 breast. Jodi Santo (Richmond, VA) teamed with Middlemore, Milstead and Samantha Ladeveze (Chesapeake, VA) for a 200 medley relay victory.

Mason swims at George Washington Saturday, Jan. 27. The Patriots will host the CAA Championships for the second straight year at the Aquatic and Fitness Center beginning Wednesday, Feb. 21.
