SYRACUSE, NY - Junior Djordje Filipovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) of the Syracuse University swimming and diving team was named the ECAC Division I Men's Swimmer of the Week for his performance at West Virginia on January 20.

Filipovic, who competed for his native Yugoslavia in the Sydney Olympics last September and is a two-time BIG EAST Champion in the 200 butterfly, placed first in the 100 butterfly with a season-best time of 50.98 against the Mountaineers. He also touched first in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:51.92 and was second in the 200 freestyle. In addition, Filipovic swam the third leg of SU's 400 medley relay team.

The SU men's swimming and diving team is 2-3 on the season. The Orangemen and Orangewomen take on Connecticut in their final home meet of the season this Saturday, January 27 at Webster Pool. Diving begins at 9 a.m., while swimming commences at noon.
