Rider Sweeps Loyola in Dual Meet

Lawrenceville, NJ-- Rider swept Loyola in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference dual meet Friday in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. The Broncs defeated the men, 130-107, and the women, 121-112.

For the men, Loyola seized the top three spots in the 200-yard breast and 500-yard free. Matt Reheis captured the 200 with a time of 2:19.16. Stephen Price and J. Andrew followed at 2:30.26 and 2:31.98, respectively. Chris Berger swam the 500 in 5:06.51 to take first place. Jamie Barone, 5:16.22, and Pat Evans, 5:37.58, placed second and third, respectively. Rider's senior Dave Kern (Freehold/Marlboro) won the 200 individual medley (2:01.70), the 200 butterfly (2:01.94), and swam on the winning 400 medley relay. Sophomore Bob Baier (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) won both the 3-meter dive (236.92) and the 1-meter dive (184.12).

On the women's side, Loyola's Sarah O'Donnell finished first in the one-meter dive with 187.20 points and second in the three-meter dive with 189.90 points. Laura Cadigan swam the 200-yard breast in 2:35.27 to capture first place. Kathy Breuninger, 2:37.26, and Sara Lentz, 2:42.63, placed second and third, respectively.

Rider's sophomore Melissa Michalov (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) won the 200 freestyle (1:58.99) and the 100 freestyle (54.67). Sophomore Deanna Kazarnowicz (Allentown, PA/Salisbury) won the 200 backstroke (2:15.42) and swam on the winning 400 medley relay, and freshman Melissa Morrissy (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) won the 50 free (26.25) and the 500 free (5:17.75).

Loyola is back on the road January 27 at Delaware for a 1 p.m. non-conference dual meet.
