Chris Alderman Named Big Ten Diver of The Week

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Penn State senior diver Chris Alderman (Arlington, Va.) has been named the Big Ten Diver of the week for the week of January 8th-14th. Alderman grabbed first place in both the one meter and three meter competitions in the Nittany Lions' 140-98 victory over intrastate rival Pittsburgh on Senior Day. The meet marked the last time that Alderman will compete in the McCoy Natatorium. In the one meter competition Alderman edged teammate Steve Bohner (Lansdale, Pa.) by the margin of 295.80 to 295.65. Fellow senior Jeff Harrison (Baltimore, Md.) placed second to Alderman in the three meter with 302.70 points. Alderman tallied a score of 307.20.

Alderman also performed extremely well at the Georgia Diving Invitational over the weekend of January 6th. Alderman notched two third place finishes at the prestigious event. The Penn State men's swimming and diving team will return to action this weekend with two days of Big Ten competition in Ann Arbor, Mich. Friday the Lions will take on the defending Big Ten Champion Wolverines in a dual meet beginning at 6:00 p.m. Saturday Penn State will participate in a triangular dual meet with Purdue and host Michigan.
