Corfe in a hurry as more records tumble at KZN Champs

Melissa Corfe (Mr. Price Seagulls-KZN) is fast emerging as one of South African swimming rising stars when she smashed the national age group record for the 200m backstroke by a massive 2.32 seconds at the Kwa Zulu Natal swimming championships being held at the Kings Park Aquatic Complex in Durban on Thursday night.

The 14-year-old Corfe totally dominated the girls 14-15 event, which saw her go out hard and maintain a good consistent pace through out the event. Her splits were an excellent reflection of the high work ethic that this young lady has maintained over the past few seasons. There is no substitute for hard work and she is now reaping just rewards. Melissa's time of 2:18.88 saw her loop 2.32 seconds off Taryn Cockynes' (Linrand-CGA) time of 2:21.20 set at Senior Nationals in 1999.

A further eight provincial marks also took a tumble during the second evenings finals.
