Chloe Sutton (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Chad LaTourette (Mission Viejo, Calif.) took the distance events on the opening night if action at the Charlotte UltraSwim Grand Prix at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte, N.C. 

Sutton clocked 16:23.96 to win the 1500m freestyle in a tight race with Ashley Twichell (Fayetteville, N.Y.), second on 16:25.25, with Andreina Pinto, of the Florida Gators, third in 16:38.64.

LaTourette was the sole sub-8-min man in the 800m, his 7:58.91 keeping at bay Connor Jaeger, of Club Wolverine, on 8:00.81, with Sean Ryan (Chattanooga, Tenn.) third in 8:07.43.
