Boston College Eagles Seven First Place Finishes Lead to Victory

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College men's and women's swim and diving teams participated in a tri-meet with Binghamton, Southern Connecticut and the College of New Jersey on Saturday, November 25 at the Flynn Complex Pool in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The women's team defeated all three teams while the men defeated Binghamton and Southern Connecticut and fell to the College of New Jersey.

For the women's swimming and diving team, the Eagles picked up seven first places. To begin the meet, the Eagles came out strong taking first and second place in the 200 medley relay. Sophomore Christa Ehlers won the first individual event for the Eagles in the 1000 freestyle with at time of 10:59.04. In the one-meter diving senior Shannon Lents took first with 241.50 points. With a time of 2:12.66, sophomore Nina Suryoutomo took first in the 200 backstroke. In the next event freshman Lauren Keibler won the 200 breaststroke (2:29.07). Freshman Lisa DelSignore finished in first with 5:20.07 in the 500 freestyle. The final first place finish for the Eagles came in the three-meter diving event when freshman Courtney Cox won her first collegiate event.

The Men's swimming and diving team picked up two first place finishes in the tri-meet. Winning both the one-meter and the three-meter diving event, senior Mike Wilt collected 255.67 and 235.125, respectively.

Boston College will swim the College of New Jersey again on January 9 in San Nicolas, Aruba, after a week of training in Aruba.

Both the men's and women's team will next compete at the George Mason Invitational in Fairax, Vir, in Friday, December 1, at noon.
