Clemson Men Defeat Georgia Tech

CLEMSON, SC - The Clemson men's swimming and diving team defeated ACC rival Georgia Tech 167-74, this evening at McHugh Natatorium. The Tigers improve to 3-1 overall with the win.

Freshman Brent Hitchcock (The Woodlands, TX) won the 200 free swimming with a time of 1.42.55. Junior Kenny Roberts was victorious in the 100 free (45.65), while senior Will Rogers (West Columbia, SC) claimed the 50 free with a time of 20.73. Sophomore Craig Thomas (Maryville, TN) took first in the three meter board (287.10) and was first on the one meter board (266.25) to lead the Tiger divers. Junior Matt Wilson (Wilmington, DE) won the 200 Individual medley with a time of 1.54.71. Freshman Mark Henly (Denver, PA) won the 200 backstroke (1.51.00) and the 200 fly was captured by freshman Rob Kummer (1.52.27). Both Tiger relay teams were triumphant this evening. The 400 MR team of Mark Henly, Matt Norman, John Dean, and Will Rogers swam a winning race of 3.25.28. In the final event of the meet, the 400 free relay team of Josh Williams, Brent Hitchcock, John Dean, and Kenny Roberts completed the Tigers' conquest over Georgia Tech with a time of 3.11.04.

The Clemson women's and men's swimming and diving teams will travel to the Georgia Invitational Dec. 1-3.
