Sprint Guns Set To Fire In Rio Today

Raia Rápida - a "Fast Lane" sprint battle - will unfold in Rio, host to the 2016 Olympic Games, today, when top guns from Brazil, France, Australia and the US take part in a dash-off.
Olympic 50m champion Florent Manaudou, world 100m champion James Magnussen, Olympic finalist Bruno Fratus, and the likes of Fred Bousquet and Matt Targett are all in the mix. Money prizes are at stake. Each nation will have four swimmers, one of each stroke. There will be four 50m duels, in each stroke, one swimmer against another. In the end there will be a 4x50m medley relay. The winner of each race will get 1 point, the team winners in each 4x50m relay medley, will get 3 points.
The winning teams will duel in a final.
Round 1: Brazil vs USA; France vs Australia.

The event is supported by Effect Sports, of which former swimmer and Pan-American medallist Pedro Monteiro is Executive Director, and Patrick Winkler, publisher of Swim Channel, is the Technical Director. Embratel is the lead sponsor.
