Australia Has Another Talbot In Its Tank

Dec 4, 2012  - Craig Lord

An Australian dynasty in the making: Scott Talbot is leaving New Zealand to take up anew role created by the NSW Institute of Sport and Sydney University. The son of former Dolphins head coach Don Talbot and former NZ high performance manager Jan Cameron starts his new life in January.

One of Swimming New Zealand's three high performance coaches, Talbot junior, 31, swam in Kiwi colours at the Sydney and Athens Olympics and is a former national backstroke record holder.

A statement from Swimming NZ, which lost Cameron on the way to London 2012, paid plaudits to Talbot. "Scott is young for an international coach and the opportunity to develop his skill-set with an overseas role will no doubt benefit his growth as a swim coach," said federation chief executive Mark O'Connor.

A new high performance director for New Zealand is expected to be named before the end of the year.
