Great Britain: Double Olympic champion of 2008 Rebecca Adlington (GBR) this weekend accepted a proposal of marriage from Harry Needs her boyfriend and former Nova Centurion teammate in Nottingham. Adlington tweeted: Had the best weekend ever!!! Thank you @Harryneeds for making me the happiest person ever right now #engaged #isaidyes. Adlington retired in several weeks ago after taking time out following the London 2012 Games at which she claimed bronze in both the 400m and 800m freestyle to follow up double gold in those events in Beijing. We wish them a long and happy life together.

Sweden: Sarah Sjostrom, racing at a local junior short-course meet at home, made a rare appearance on breaststroke, clocking 1.11.36 and then tweeting: "watch out @johanssonjennie xo. Sjostrom also clocked 59sec over 100m free, her verdict: "Hhehehe, my best time in short course this year … but hopefully about 6-7 sec faster next time; shame on me :p"
