Good Fly Swims In Queensland

Susan O'Neill, Atlanta Olympics 200m Butterfly Champion on limited preparation went 2:10.07 in winning that event . In the women's 100m Butterfly fourteen year old Ayari Aoyama of the Itoman Club in Japan won in 59.72.

Geoff Huegill served notice on Michael Klim and Scott Miller the Olympic Silver medallist in the 100m Butterfly, by recording a good mid-season time of 53.72. Huegill and Miller will clash in the event this weekend at the New South Wales Championships in Sydney, while Klim and the first contingent of Aussies flew out for the next round World Cup Meets in Europe. Miller who has had the post Olympic blues for five months finally resumed training and cautiously asserted, "I won't be winning races at this Meet". Prior to the New Year Scott trained alone, concentrating on his personal fitness before resuming serious work with Coach Paul Hardman at the Carlile Club in Narrabeen.

Huegill and Miller will be joined in the fly event by the English swimmer James Hickman, who is in Australia as a member of the new look Great Britain Swimming Team.
