Istanbul, World Short-Course Championships, day 3 finals: 

Women's 100m freestyle

Double Olympic champion in 2008, world champion in 2009, Britta Steffen (GER) stormed past Megan Romano (USA) to take the crown in 52.31. Romano, out in 25.28, to Steffen's 25.62, hung on for silver leaving Tang Yi (CHN) with bronze in 52.73 as last inside 53sec. The entire podium was slower than bronze in 2010, Olympic year significant to that speed.
